Sharon Van Etten, Manchester Cathedral, November 2014

Sharon Van Etten has to be one of the most enthralling artists of her genre anywhere in the world. It's hard to gauge her popularity. I've seen her play to a capacity crowd at Stubbs in Austin (and that's a big venue, she was headlining over Fiona Apple) and I've seen her play to a club crowd in Sheffield. Tonight's venue in Manchester Cathedral was perfect.

My writing pen was persuaded out of retirement for a few brief moments. There were other photogs there, one of whom was complaining about the light, WTF? I've rarely seen it so good outside The Roundhouse

She Keeps Bees, Manchester, November 2014

Perfect light for the support, then this for the main act? Whatever, I had forgotten just how much I love She Keeps Bees, especially live. Jess is ALL charm, it runs through her like letters through a rock.

Chvrches, Bird, Lizzo : Liverpool Music Week, Nov 2014

Liverpool's growing speciality seems to be boutique urban festivals, which it does very, very well indeed. A chance to shoot the wonderful Chvrches, who've got trickier to capture as their light show has got bigger. It turned out to be a poignant last ever home-town gig for Bird. Also - Lizzo anyone? If you get the chance, just go.

Mud Hutters, Lymm, Cheshire, Aug 2014

Mud Hutters was a DIY Festival on a farm in Cheshire. The whole DIY ethos was wonderful. The highlights were very definitely Spaceheads, who I can only describe as experimental electronic free form jazz, words I never thought I would juxtapose.
